Living into the Future of Unity of Olympia Through Legacy Giving

Estate planning is important for everyone, regardless of the size of your estate. By creating your legacy, you can ensure your values live on while making a positive difference in the lives of others and in your life right now. As people are changed, the world will also change . . . for the better.

There are several benefits of including Unity of Olympia in your will:

  • Your bequest creates a lasting legacy of support for Unity and its important spiritual work, providing hope and inspiration to others.
  • It allows you to make a significant contribution that you might not have been able to make during your lifetime.
  • Your bequest assures you that your gift will make a difference in the world, no matter what you are able to give.
  • There are also estate tax benefits of making a bequest. One of the best ways to save on federal estate taxes is to provide for a charitable bequest in your will. Gifts to Unity of Olympia, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code (Federal Tax ID # 91-0890113) are deductible from the taxable portion of your estate.

How Do I Become a Legacy Member? Contribute financially to Unity of Olympia and become a member of the Legacy Plan.

Why Legacy Giving? You receive the satisfaction of knowing that you contributed to the long-term financial well-being of your spiritual community, in creating a legacy of support for Unity of Olympia. Legacy giving is a gift above and beyond your regular tithing contributions to support this ministry.

How Do I Start? You can do this two ways:

  • Identify Unity of Olympia as a benefactor in your will
  • Give a cash donation

Complete the Legacy Plan Enrollment Form, available here with an e-signature option, or you may download and print the form or pick one up from the office, then submit it directly to the Minister. It will also be reviewed by the Board of Trustees. Monies will be deposited in an account labeled Legacy Plan, kept separate from the general fund, and the Board determines how/when these monies will be dispersed in keeping with the vision, mission, and values of Unity of Olympia.

Is There Recognition? As a member of the Legacy Plan, you may be recognized yearly. Upon distribution of your estate, your name may be included in a recognition system such as engraving on a brick, plaque, or tree of life. You may also remain anonymous if you wish.
